Holden and Jace are somewhat similar, I can see what you mean. However there's a lot more to Holden than there is Jace, which is understandable. Catcher in the Rye is a mainly psychological look into this boy's brain. What he likes, what he doesn't. Holden may be very cynical, as is Jace, but I think that's mostly what they have in common. Holden has trouble with his reality, and the fact that the world is corrupt and dangerous for those things he loves or thinks are innocent. Holden has trouble dealing with the fact that all things innocent will be corrupt soon enough. That's why he hates serious curse words. Though, Holden does curse a great deal they're never the great and horrible swears such as the f-bomb, etc. He says damn and hell almost every other word, sure, but never the f-bomb. I like to call what Holden has the glass box complex. He wants everything to stay as it is in a glass box and never change. He can't deal with change and that in turn leads to his downfall and ultimate nervous breakdown. Jace is similar in his attitude toward Clary and not wanting her to deal with things, he wants to do it himself and deal with the horrors that being a shadowhunter brings. However, he is willing enough to bring her along and corrupt her. He is the reason she's apart of that world now and he caused the corruption so.. in that sense Holden and Jace aren't very alike. I do agree that their attitude in being an overly pessimisstic person are very similar, I suppose. So I can sort of see what you mean. I'm still trying to figure out who else Jace is like, I'll have to get back to you, though.
