i'm new to The Mortal Instruments series; i'm currently reading City of Glass (just got it this morning). as much as i love these books, i really really hate the majority of the characters. i'm not sure how that works confused

...wow. you hate most of the characters? Lol, i'm not sure how that works either, they're the reason why these books are so good... ah well, at least you like Simon ^^

I had no problem with Clary in the beginning, until she hurt Simon. Then I began to dislike her more and more. I never liked Jace at all. He's far too conceited for my taste. I find it much more attractive when a man has no idea how wonderful he really is. Isabelle.. she has the possibility to be okay, but she seems a bit conceited too. Alec has never bothered me. I actually feel very sorry for him (the whole Jace situation) and he can be funny. And Magnus, I don't even know what to say about Magnus. I love him to death. He's just so funny to picture.

I guess I can see your point about Jace being conceited, even though I think he does it on purpose most of the time...

Well really, I think maybe my problem with Jace is that he just seems like the type of guy who everyone would be obsessed with, the popular guy who all the girls want, and that's never been my type. I've always liked people who nobody else seems to like, and not on purpose either. I think he would be okay if he just wasn't so darn conceited. I still wouldn't find the idea of him attractive, though. I do have to give him credit for being a good guy though, for what he did for Simon even if it was really for Clary.

But yeah, I actually realised I agree with you. He's a good book character, the kind that every girl wants (not that it bothers me), but in real life I wouldn't fall for him. I'd fall for the invisible guy, too ^^ (only not the same. I'd be the idiot with a crush on Alec. ^^")
