And all you Clary/ Jace shippers will love me!
December finished wraping the bandages around her stomach and chest, and pulled her black fish-net tank over her head. Not that she needed the bandages on her stomach, or her chest, but December thought that the bandages looked good. Besides, they provided a little extra armor. Not that she needed that either. She grabed her black vest off of the floor, and her shurikans off of the desk. Sebastian always mocked her shurikans, but they had saved his life on a number of ocaions. She walked down the hall, past the library. The door was ajar slightly, and she heard Jace and Alec arguing. She stopped. Snooping was against her nature, but this could be useful.
“I’m not stupid,I know how you think you feel about me. You don’t, though. You just like me because I’m safe. There’s no risk. And then you never have to try to have a real relationship, because
you can use me as an excuse.”
“But I do —”
“You don’t, Fine. Go ahead. Kiss me right now.”
December backed away from the door quitely.
Well, you wanted somthing that could be useful She thought.
She ran the remainder of the hallway, rounding the corner where the stairs started.
“Sebastian! Don’t let her go upstairs!”
She stopped, and swung back around the corner, peaking out so she could see the scene below, but no one down there could see her.
“So this is the famous Clary." Sebastian said, flashing his famous smile. December woundered, and not for the first time, how many girls in Alicant(SP?) had fallen for that smile, and how many of those had gotten brocken hearts out of it.
“I’m Sebastian Verlac.” He held out his hand. "Aline's cousin."
“Sebastian!" Isabelle's hair had come out of its pins and hung down
over her shoulders, and she was glaring.“Don’t be nice to her. She’s
not supposed to be here. Clary, go home.”
"Now Isabelle," December said in a slow drawl, letting her voice fill the entrance hall as she sat on the banister and slid down to join the asembaly down on the ground floor, "Won't you let the girl stay and meet her cousin?"
Isabelle flushed, Sebastian rouged and the red head, Clary, looked confused.
"Cousin? I don't have any cousins." Clary said, but her voice faltered.
perfect, December thought.
"You also thought that you were an only child," December replied, pulling a shurikan out of her pocket and spinning it in her fingers.
"December!" Sebastian said, his face going from Pink to red.
"I am December Morganstern," She continued, ignoring Sebastian, " I am your cousin."
She pulled a small chain out of her vest pocket. Dangeling from it was a silver ring. On the ring was an engraved M with shouting stars.
Clary looked flabergsted.
"Jace has the same ring." She said.
"Of course Johnny has the same ring," December said, "And you would have too, if Aunt Jocelyn hadn't left Ideris,"
"
Jace said that was the Wayland family ring." Clary said. December chucked at the emphisis Clary had put on the name "Jace".
"Johnny would have been told so," She told Clary, putting the same emphisis on "Johnny" as Clary had on "Jace". "Uncle Valentine would have told him that."
"Uncle Valentine?" Clary asked
"Yes Clary. My father is your fathers brother. That makes you
and Johnny Morgansterns." December said, still perched on the end of the banister, and putting theshurikan away, she begain spinning the chain with the ring on it.
"Clarissa Morgenstern. I like how it sounds." December drawled, stepping down from the banister.
"Clary Fairchild," Clary said, sounding like she was surpressing her rage, " My name is Clary Fairchild."
"That's what you go by?" December asked, raising one eyebrow, " I thougth you would have taken Lucian's last name."
"Lucian?"
"Yes, Lucian Greymark. The lycanthrope that ran away with Aunt Jocelyn." December drilled in the last sentance. She found the nerve she wanted. Now she just had to pound away at it till it gave.
"Luke? You thought that i'd take Luke's last name?" Clary was red now, with rage or embarisment, December didn't know wich.
{Clary's Point Of View}
Clary stood looking at this girl. December she'd said her name was. But who was she? She had some nerve to claim to be her cousin. And she called Jace Johnny. What?
"Yes, what ever name you use for him."
"December, Stop this now!" A tall thin man comanded as he enterd the room.
"Yesir, Mr. Verlac," December said sarcasticly. Clary had thougth that Jace was the only person capable of using that much sarcasm.
"Don't take sucha sarcastic tone with me," Mr. Verlac said, "And December, you've lived here for your whole life. Why do yo insist on calling me Mr.Verlac?"
"Look, not that this isn't a blast," December said, compleatly ignoring Mr.Verlac, " But i Have to meet Veronica and Kay at the library." With that December swept out of the room with such grandor that Clary was surprised that no one bowed.
"I'm going with Dee," Sebastian said," Sorry she was so mean to you Clary, But that's how she judges people. she sees how long it takes for them to break." He left, half running, half walking to catch up to December.
"Was she lying then?" Clary asked no one inperticular.
"No. She may have the Morgenstern mean streack, but she never lies. She also lookes like a morganstern, With her blonde hair." Mr Verlac said.
"Blonde? But it's black. And Green" Clary said.
"Oh she dyes it. But when she was small it was whit blonde. When we met Jace for the first time, they could have past as twins!"
They could have pasted as twins? Clary thought.
{Sebastian's P.O.V}
"Dee, that was crule," Sebastian said as he caught up with December.
"How? I wanted to see if she cracked under pressuer," She replied calmly, "You want a coffee? Dalen's is like, half a block from here."
"No, Dee I don't want a coffee" Sebastian said, trying to layer frustration into his voice.
"Yes you do. Sab, you
always want a coffee!" She said tugging on his sleeve.
"Dee," He said, exasperated.
"Come
on Sab!"
"No"
She kept her hand on his arm and steped in front of him, stoping him with her other hand on his chest. His heart skipped a beat.
"Look, Sebastian, let's get a coffee." December started to draw small circles on his chest with her finger. Sebastian took a deep breath, willing his heart to stop beating so fast.
She stood on tip-toe so she could wisper somthing in his ear. He still had to bend down because of the drastic difference in their hights.
"I can cancelle with Veronica and Kay. We can go down to the river, or, maybe that forest you like so much."
"No, Dee, stop that." He said, pushing her away from him. This was killing him.
"Sab, what is going on with you lately?" December asked.
"Nothing, come on. I give, let's get a coffee."
December smiled at him, and took his hand. She lead him down the street, to the little hole-in-the-wall cafe, Dalen's Coffee house.
Sebastian didn't realy like the place because it was one of the few Downworlder's hang outs in Alicant. He always felt like some of the Downworlders were glaring a hole in his skull.
"Hey, December!" The guy behind the counter called, "Want your regular?'
"Yeah! Thanks Dalen!" December called back, "And a large Black coffee please!"
"Commin' right up, Hun!"
She lead him to a booth in the back, and a pretty Fairie girl brought them thier coffee. She smiled at Sebastion, then saw December with him. The glare the Fairie gave December would have melted a steel wall.
December smiled sweetly at the girl and payed her for thier coffees, but with held the tip.
I wounder what December would have done if the waitress had actuly said anything, Sebastian thought taking a sip of his coffee,
I hope she never decides to.
{December's P.O.V}
December and Sebastian when thier seperat ways after they finished thier coffee. December's contiance, or what little remaind of it, was bugging her. She felt bad about how she had treated Sebastian back on the way to the coffe shop.
You shouldn't toy with him like that. she thougth guiltily.
"DECEMBER!"
December looked up from her feet to se Synth running across the street to join her.
"Hey Synth," She said with a smile.
"You're brooding again," He said, with a mischivus twincle in his eye.
"I am not," She replied "I am merly thinking things out."
"It's Sebastian isn't it?" He asked.
December blushed but said nothing.
"I'M RIGHT!" Synth shouted, drawing concernd looks from onlookers.
"Shut up Synth!" She said, grabbing his shirt collar.
"Hey, hey, remember I'm from one of the most powerful worlock families..."
"So DON"T piss you off," December finished for him.
"Alright, so i use that alot," He said, smoothing his shirt out, "next time, play that closer to the lapel."
December rolled her eyes. Synth got side tracked so easily. which could be alittle dageruos, concidering what a young warlock he was.
"So what happend?" Synth asked.
"Nothing, I messed with him," December said, looking at her shoes, "And i feel horrable."
"NO," he said, faking surprise "YOU, December Morgenstern, Feel HORRABLE? For Being MEAN?"
"no,Synth, i messed with his feelings" She said "And Sab's a good guy, and he dosen't deserve me screwing with him"
"Dee," Synth crooned, putting his arm around her sholders in a comferting guestur, " Is this about what you did, or what you are planing to do?"
"How do you now what i'm planning to do?" She aksed.
"After what happend to your family, and knowing who you are, It's obviuse what you plan to do," Synth replied, "And being able to read minds dosen't hurt eather."
December sighed, "It's both. If this keeps going on, and i go through with my plan, he could get hurt, and he has nothing to do with it!"
"As a completely impartal third party, and I do mean COMPLETLY impartial," Synth said, "I think you should let sleeping dogs lie."
"But what if I Can't?"
