| Poor Tom. Soooo many girls taking about hot guys. Even I felt a little awkward and I’m a hot-blooded seventeen-year-old girl. I love hot guys. I think the main point is that all this is premature. Completely and utterly. We haven’t even gotten cookies from the books. I understand that it can be scary sometimes when an author chooses to tell a story in a similar world with different characters. You’re attached to the characters you already know, but there are characters still to be explored. Think of it this way, does being an Edward fan make you any less of a Jace fan? They belong to two different stories, like the characters from this new series will belong to a different story. Letting you’re loyalty to another set of characters cloud your judgment of a different set of characters is kind of silly. I mean, afterward, if you find that Jace is still your favorite, fine, but judging this early is, as I said, premature. On the whole Magnus thing, he’s immortal and is heavily intertwined in this world. It seems kind of weird that Cassie would write another trilogy about Shadowhunters and their world and not include a character that obviously would be around during it. About the fear that Magnus will become all of a sudden a crappy character: really? Cassie is not a bad writer. We would not be here if she was. What would be the point of continuing the story of a character that’s already been established only to change everything we know about them? There is none and Cassie is competent enough to know that. Of coarse there’s going to be some sort of evolution, but he’s still the same person. How could he not be? We’re talking about Magnus Fracking Bane here. Do you honestly think that a little social propriety is going to stop him from doing what he wants? It certainly isn’t stopping him in this time, I don’t think it’s going to stop him then either. And again, going back to the whole premature thing, who knows what will happen. We can’t judge. We’re making assumptions about the whole thing. Yes, I understand being nervous that things will happen that you won’t like, but Cassie is a good writer and I trust her to write a good book. If she doesn’t, then well, she doesn’t. She could just as easily have written a crappy City of Glass, but we’ll never know until we know. And then again, even if she doesn’t do a 100% amazing job with City of Glass, it doesn’t mean that the new trilogy will suck. I mean, I would be disheartened to read it, maybe, but I’d still give it a try. They’re just books after all. You touched on it a bit, but I just kinda wanted to elaborate more. A book ending with a major death doesn’t necessarily mean that the ending is crappy. Sometimes it has to happen, that’s just how it is. You guys made it seem that if an author crushes you at the end of a book that you cannot read anything else by them because they happened to elicit some emotion in you that was unpleasant. That you only read authors that write happy tales. I know you didn’t mean that, but you guys might want to emphasize that you’re judging on quality, because I mean, if an author manages to make you feel absolutely crushed, then they did their job and they did it well. Why tell these stories or read these stories if you’re not emotionally invested in them. Cassie really has done a great job with the sexual tension. Steamy and wrong and do damn good. How can characters who have tension like that be related? Answer: they can’t be. End of story. Just my two cents… more like two dollars. I actually wanted to say a lot about The Gemma Doyle Trilogy, but I decided not to. It got a little wordy. Anyways, great show guys! I’m excited for chapter by chapter! |

| Okay so I feel like I have to defend myself, which is something I don't really like having to do, kind of like on the whole Simon subject.
I'm really tired of people taking every little word I say out of context and blowing it up like I was just saying, "No this is how it's going to happen and this is how it's going to be." Because I don't ever say that, and neither does Katy. For the most part we were just describing our first reactions and thoughts towards the new series. We don't know any more than all of you or anyone else what the new books are going to be like. (Unless of course you are Cassandra herself)
As far as Magnus goes, we were both just stating the fact that if he's an uber jerk in the new series it will make it really hard for me to enjoy CoB-CoA & CoG the same way I did originally because I wont see Magnus as I did before the new series.
And YES I am an ending person and I really do judge a book on the ending. It's not that I want everything to happen the way I think it should, but if the reasons why things happened weren't explained good enough for me I wont have trust in that author any more. Too me the ending is the most important part of the entire story, and if I read that ending and don't feel good about it at all, then it's really hard for me to be excited about something else they write because I am in constant fear that they will do the same thing to me.
For instance: I HATED the way Half Blood Prince ended, like I HATED it. It made me cry like their was no tomorrow and pretty much broke my heart into a million different pieces. But I still read The Deathly Hallows, and during the book I was finally happy because we got an explanation as to why things happened the way they did in H.B.P. But then in D.H. it was just a blood bath and one character after another biting the dust and half of them left without an explanation as to why they died.
These being characters that were built up through out the series and characters that I was attached to and they were just killed off without any sort of explanation as to how or why, I'm just sort of left to guess how they died. I mean sure there was a war, and I can't expect an explanation to every single characters death, but I would at least like to know more than just 'Their Dead'
Plus I was very upset by the fact that we didn't get to see any of the characters reactions after the war, or how Harry dealt with everything afterwards. I mean the epilogue gave the impression that things just went right back to being happy and everyone just sort of moved on. I would have liked to see more of the characters reactions to the after effects of the war. I personally could care less if Harry and Ginny ended up married and how many kids they had. I mean yeah I was happy to hear that Harry looked up to Snape in the end and admired his bravery, but I would have liked to hear more about how Harry, Ron, Hermione and the rest of the characters actually dealt with it all.
As far as the Gemma Doyle series, lets just say I have a long-long list as to why the ending of that series ticked me off. I'll open a topic for the books in the books section and we can talk all about those there.
All I'm really trying to say is that in no way shape or form are we being premature, we are just stating our own personal opinions, which we have a right to, just like you have a right to yours. And I'm really just getting over having to defend my feelings and opinions to everyone, if you have your own opinion or would like us to discuss it on the show that's fine, we will be more than happy to do so. And just because those were my first reactions it doesn't mean that my opinion wont change over time, so please don't jump off and assume that we are just deciding from that moment and have made up our minds on how we feel about things.
Katy and I are both fickle creatures, well at least I know I am, and my opinions change often. Who knows maybe after we get a few cookies we might like the series a little more than our FIRST time hearing anything about them. Because believe it or not that was in fact most of ours first time hearing anything about the series and those were our first opinions and they very much may change like opinions can and often do.
I guess all I'm just trying to say is that we are in fact human, and we do have opinions that are going to be different and not necessarily agree with yours. It's just a fact of life, also is the fact that our opinions are allowed to change over time. And yes we will make mistakes, we never claimed to be book experts or even experts on the series, I don't think anyone besides Cassandra herself is in that sense. So from time to time yes we may get things wrong and we might say something that not everyone is going to agree with, but it is all just opinions and view points - please try to keep that in mind.

No, no, I totally get that and I agreed with you on many aspects. I was just elaborating on my feelings about it. Just that I feel like a lot of the fears that we have, because I do share quite a bit of what you guys fear, are just premature and we should just take a few deep breaths before we start worrying about it.
And I understood the whole ending thing, and I understood what you meant, it just wasn't clear 100% of the time, so I was again just elaborating and expanding on what you guys were taking about
You're 100% entitled to your opinions and I didn't have any problem with them anyways. I was just adding some perspective and my response to the issues you brought up in the Podcast. If you feel I stepped out of line in anyway, please accept my sincere apology, but that was certainly not my intention. I just wanted to add to the discussion. |

| OMG no no no no - sorry if that sounded at all like I was attacking you - I just might have taken it wrong when I first read it while I was waking up this morning
I didn't mean to make it sound like I was taking it all out on you - I just figured if one person was questioning it, I don't even want to see what half the other people are thinking.
Since well everyone got the impression that Katy and I hated Simon which wasn't at all the case. I just thought I should probably go a little more in depth and explain some of the things we talked about - sorry if I came off mean. Ask Megs, I have a problem with being a little to blatant most of the time and I have a VERY abrasive personality and sometimes I just come off very wrong.
So again - I'm sorry
Also - geekyxx I'm not really sure I'm understanding your question - Do you mean what is this post in particular about? Or just what is the mundanes about? This post is just us discussing our view points and things about the latest podcast - and the mundanes is a group of us that do podcasts - I hope that helped, since I'm still confused And welcome btw |

| i know this is a while after the podcast, but i recently joined and thought i'd put in my opinion. k, so i LOVE magnus in this series. he's amazing and hilarious. plus, he's glittery. what else could you ask for? but i think that when i read Cassandra Clare's new series, the Infernal Devices, i don't want him to be the same. his description of his childhood was shocking. but i think that he didn't just throw off his shackles and become awesome. i'm sure it was a process that he had to go through, one that was difficult and trying. that would really make the character real to me. If we could see a bit of him becoming himself. |
