I never really considered Jace and Isabelle liking each other or anything, because they just don't really seem to be each other's type. To me, anyway. When Clary woke up hearing Alec and Isabelle talking, I thought to myself, Whoa, where the hell is she?! Then a second later it's like, Oh, she's probably at the Institute. I didn't really know what to make of Isabelle, since she seemed kinda bitchy, but in some way she reminded me of one of my personalities. Personalities in the plural. I can be pretty bipolar. But that is besides the point. Alec to me seemed pretty odd, and I kept thinking, What on earth is his PROBLEM?
Hodge to me was rather cool, but he kept acting so strange. In the end of that chapter, when Hodge was sending that letter, I was thinking, He's not sending that to the Clave is he? If he were, he probably wouldn't seem so tense. I mean, he obviously didn't get along with the Clave, but he shouldn't be
that worried. And then by the end of the book I realized he sent it most likely to Valentine.
With Jace and Alec's relationship, I didn't even notice much of anything ntil I found out that Alec was gay and then I went back and re-read some parts. Only then did I pick up on all those small little things, the slight almost tenderness towards Jace...yeah.
I loved Church, because he sounded so CUTE!!!! Although, like Loki, I did wonder a bit if he was really a human and he would turn into one in the end as a plot twist. By the middle, though, I finally got that Church was just a cat.
With Valentine being the name of a villain, I remember just sitting there, blinking. It's like, His name can't
SERIOUSLY be VALENTINE. Like the day. Hahaaa, the day with all the mushiness and chocolate and crappy, corny cards, and the name of the bad guy is VALENTINE. Once I got over that, however, it actually seemed pretty corrupted and creepy.
To me, Jace putting the rune on Clary seemed kinda romantic/sexy. I don't really know how to explain it, though. You know, he first shows that he cares about her and stuff. Although he didn't really care about her all THAT much to risk turning her into a Forsaken, he cared about her enough to put a rune on her to protect her. Sorta like a paradox! At least, I'm hoping I'm applying the word paradox correctly....
