Normally when reading books I just read them to find out what happens. However, there are times when I stop and actually visualize what is happening. The Ravener deamon was one of those times. And so, when I read the description, I actually pictured it [a rare feat for me] and I was freaked the hell out. Mind you, it was 2 in the morning and I have a slight paranoia of the dark. XD. Shut it. lol. Anyway, yeah. I was totally freaked because the thing I pictured in my head was creeeeeeepppy! lol. Yeah. I was bitting my fingers [I bite my fingers, never my nails] in suspense.

And then Jace showed up and I was like "yay! Awesome-score!"

I love Jace. XD

I thought at first that Clary was going to get hurt really bad and the description of the Ravener was to me like this really slimy thing...

As much as I was happy that Jace showed up later, I was happy that Clary at least tried to save herself in some way even if it is to choke the thing to death.

This chapter was full of "WTF" and "OMG"

And also "OHSHI"

Personally, if I were coming home in a rush, I wouldn't pause long enough to give my neighbor-psychic or not- any tim to ask me questions.
Like 'HI, BYE"
Personally, I'm thinking since Dorthea was in charge of the.... portal majig she should've know whut was going on, and checked? Perhaps?

Although, reading through this chapter, and Clary's one on one stand with the thing had me excited that she was gonna be all badass whatever. More like blindly run into whatever whatever, lol. But hey, cool that she survived, even by accident.

And Jace to the after-rescue! How gallant.
At this point I figured that he'd definitely be the hawt guy, and it was nice to see him being sensitive to her and what not. Jace is a lovable jerk with layers.

At first I'm like, oh God, is Clary going to get killed or something THIS early in the book? But then I kinda realized that it's really unlikely for the main character to get killed in the fourth chapter of a book that is the first in a trilogy. When the Ravener started choking, I'm like, wait, it's choking in the Sensor? When it said that it swallowed it, I assumed that it was too late for it to choke. Also, when Clary was running to the door and she heard something flying and then she went unconscious, I was thinking, Wait, that thing can SHOOT STINGERS? Come to think of it, WAS it a stinger?

For some reason Raveners remind me of robots. I don't know why.

I loved how Jace saved her. Saved by the sexy beast, of course. I remember thinking that if that were real-life, I would KILL to be Clary, regardless of the fact that she had just nearly been murdered by a crazy demon. The Du'Sien demons or whatever they were, the demons posing as cops, freaked me out. especially that lady with the skeleton hand. I think she was featured in one of my nightmares. Which is NOT a good thing. I kinda liked how in the end of that chapter it said something like how even Jace's arms were not enough to keep her from falling, or something. I remember that the phrasing struck me as so intensely dramatic. Yeah. I just enjoyed that bit a lot.

I have to admit that this is probably my least favorite chapter of the book. Even though its the first action, I always find myself wanting to get through it fast. *shrugs*

But I got respect for Clary in this chapter because at one point it says that she wasn't really feeling fear anymore, she was just kind of taking it all in and just felt cold or empty or something. Anyway, she wasn't incredibly afraid anymore and I admired her for that.

the picture i have in my head of the Ravener would be humorous for other people to see. It was hard for me to picture it looking scary for some reason.

And then Jace to the rescue! yay. I loved how the way he was treating her wound was described as 'gentle.' that made me want to swoon haha.

i agree with gentlebillvy. I think that The discription of the Ravener was laking the Scare factor, i sawa small squishalbe bug, not a freousus, gore-loving denzie of hell.

I don't know....but this chapter isn't one of my personal favorites.

I knew she wouldn't die....I mean its too early in the book....

But I just loved the part when the falls in Jace's arms...so cute...even if she was dying...lol

This wasn't me favourtie Chapter in the book either, but I think it was very nessacary. This chapter really opens us up to Clary's entry into the new "visable" world. Like sure she was them at Pandemonium and then she saw Jace at the poetry reading but in this chapter we really see that Clary is being sucked into a new world that she totaly wasn't expecting. It was more of a "Transition" chapter I think because it didn't really feel important but with out it there would be something missing. Not to mention that we get to see some of the first Jace/Clary stuff going on.
