Main Character Descriptions

Below are details about the three main characters from Cassandra's new trilogy The Infernal Devices:

Tessa: Tessa is American. She travels from New York
to London when
her brother Nathaniel goes missing. Tessa has a cloud of long curly brown hair, grey blue eyes, and a heart-shaped face. Tessa's parents are dead. They died
in a carriage accident when she was a child, which she witnessed. She was raised by her brother and her Aunt Ida, a hypochondriacal old woman, and was never allowed to see other children. So Tessa is very self-reliant,
reserved, and dreamy. She lives most of her life in books and her head. Tessa is a warlock, but has no visible nonhuman characteristics.

Jem: Jem was brought up in the Shanghai Institute. His mother was Chinese, his father British. Jem's parents were killed by demons in Shanghai, and Jem was tortured over a series of days with demon drugs that left him permanently addicted. This hasn't made him bitter or vicious the way Will is, though. He's more resigned and philosophical. The drug he's addicted to drains the color out of his hair and skin and eyes, so he's very pale, with
silvery hair and eyes — but he is half-Chinese, and that's visible in the way he looks despite his coloring. Jem wears the kind of clothes
Victorian gentlemen wore in that era, with some touches that connote his heritage,
like a jade pendant around his neck, and clothes with what the Victorian Brits would think of as "foreign" tailoring.

Will: Will is Will is beautiful and dangerous and tormented and bleak. Much bleaker than Jace. He lacks the human connections Jace has made over the course of his life. Will hates everyone but Jem. Will works hard to make
other people hate him and has his reasons for doing so. He thinks the worst of everyone and assumes everyone will follow their worst impulses at all times. His bitterness has made him a little wild; he likes to go out drinking and flirting and sometimes doesn't come back for days. Will's parents were Shadowhunters who left the Clave and brought Will up as an ordinary human boy. After they were slaughtered by demons when he was twelve he joined the Clave in order to revenge himself on demons for their deaths. He also blames himself for the death of his best friend, which he caused. Will has black hair, pale skin, blue eyes, and is slender and tall.

What do you think of the new trio of main characters?

But seriously. All their parents are dead? Are you kidding me. This is sort of sounding like some kind of mary-sue filled fanfic. -rolls eyes-

eh.... I just don't know if she can wow me again. I mean it worries me and these characters sound ok... but still no Jace, no Clary, no Simon, probably a no go.

Who gives a donkey's behind about Simon?! I will miss Jace. And Alec. And Isabelle. But.... we will have Will. And like I have said, he sounds like a dreamboat. Twisted Evil

He sounds like Jace, except without the dry humour and the amazing hotness. Which actually.... now that I think about it sounds pretty bleak..... huh. But whatever. Very Happy
