| A fourth book will be coming out. Is in Simon's POV!
Here's what Cassandra posted in her blog!
I can't wait!!
| Quote: | So here are the announcements — and I'm glad to be able to share them with everyone!
1) There's going to be a fourth Mortal Instruments book. I'm going to paste in the news from the press release here. Keep in mind that everyone sounds like a jerk in press releases for some reason.
New York, NY, August 24, 2009—Margaret K. McElderry Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, has acquired City of Fallen Angels, a fourth book in Cassandra Clare’s bestselling young adult fantasy series, The Mortal Instruments, which has over 1 million books in print. The story follows Simon, a character from the first three Mortal Instruments novels, City of Bones, City of Ashes and City of Glass, as he adjusts to life as a vampire. City of Fallen Angels will publish in hardcover in March 2011, followed by a paperback edition in July 2012.
Love, blood, betrayal and revenge — the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels. Simon Lewis is having some trouble adjusting to his new life as a vampire, especially now that he hardly sees his best friend Clary, who is caught up in training to be a Shadowhunter—and spending time with her new boyfriend Jace. Not to mention that Simon doesn't quite know how to handle the pressure of not-quite-dating two girls at once. What's a daylight-loving vampire to do? Simon decides he needs a break and heads out of the city—only to discover that sinister events are following him. Realizing that the war they thought they'd won might not yet be over, Simon has to call on his Shadowhunter friends to save the day — if they can put their own splintering relationships on hold long enough to rise to the challenge.
“Simon has always been one of my favorite characters to write about, and I’m excited to get the chance to tell his story while revisiting some of the other characters that I love form The Mortal Instruments series,” said Cassandra Clare. “The enthusiasm for telling Simon’s story that I’ve received from the team at McElderry Books and Simon & Schuster has been great and I’m excited to be working with them to bring a fourth book to the series.”
Also, keep in mind that — despite the apparent finality of press releases — release dates and titles are all subject to change.
| MOVIE RIGHTS!!! | Quote: | 2) (And the one everyone's been waiting for . . . ) A lot of you already have intimations of this announcement, given that it was mentioned in Variety and other news outlets — but I wanted to wait until all the contracts were signed and the ink was dry before I said anything. So: the film rights to The Mortal Instruments have been optioned by Unique Features. This is a film production company set up by former founders and co-presidents of New Line Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne, who oversaw the production of the Lord of the Rings movies — probably my favorite fantasy movies of all time. They're very dedicated to fantasy and they understand it, and I definitely trust them with the story of the Mortal Instruments.
Now, a book series being optioned doesn't mean a film is being made right now or is definitely going to be made at all — it means that the studio or production company in question is developing the books as a film project — right now they've nailed down financing and a screenwriter (I don't know who that is yet) and are working towards the next stages in the development project. It is, however, an important step in the movie-making process, so I feel like it's okay to be excited about it. | Source: http://cassandraclare.livejournal.com/_________________ |

| I'm very excited about the 4th book although the release date, which is on 2011, is so far.. Hmmm I don't think it's in Simon's POV, though.. I think it's just more about Simon's story.. And oh, the movie, I hope that the movie will be confirmed as 100% sure *cross-fingers* ^_^ m.eo.w _________________ "Only people with no purpose are unhappy. | How can it be Simon's story and not be sims's POV? The other ones are mostly written in Clary's POV, you know? (btw I love your "sig" = ^_^ m.eo.w" cute! >.<) |

| Isn't it the narrator's POV? I think the books were written by the author's point of view.. Character POV written books are like The Twilight Saga which is written in Bella's point of view.. The M.I. series I think is like the H.P. series, written according to the narrator/author's POV.. Ms. Cassandra Clare is the one telling the story, isn't she? Hmmm am I wrong? And thanks btw..hehe ^_^ m.eo.w _________________ "Only people with no purpose are unhappy. I've got a purpose." - Jace, City of Bones |

| XD Yeah, I see what you mean. But the books are actually written in Clary's POV most of the time, just not in the first person. I mean, we still get to see Jace and Alec and Simon and all through her eyes, and we know what's going on in her head, we see it all through her eyes. Even though she's not the one actually telling the story ^^ |

| It's called third person limited. It's not told using "I" or "my", but we are still stuck inside the head of that character anyway. But, the best thing about 3rd Limited is that you can switch narrators and not have to make a chapter/page/part break. Yeah, but I'm actually talking about the one who's telling the story.. Yes it's more about what Clary could see, feel etc. but it's still not her telling the story..hehe Sorry I'm just so used with using the words 'point of view' pertaining to the one telling the story (Twilight Saga effect), but I see what you mean.. So that's what I'm saying with City of Fallen Angels, it's the authors POV, since she's the one who's going to tell the story hehe.. ^_^ m.eo.w_________________ "Only people with no purpose are unhappy. | I'm not a huge Simon fan so I'm much more excited about another book showing the other characters haha I mean, the book may be in Simon's POV,but there will still be the others, right? Anyway, the title "City of Fallen Angels" doesn't have much to do with Simon,I think. When I read it,I imagine another book focused on shadowhunters, specially Jace.But...CC must know what she's doing, right? Aaaah the movie there's one thing I can hardly wait for.And fear at the same time.Till the moment I didn't have book movies deceptions BUT I already have the perfect cast in my head and accepting the real one would be the hardest thing I guess...I mean,I still want Emma,Alex,Bill,Hoult and Giles...Idk if I'll be able to like the new faces Clary,Jace,Magnus,Alec and Hodge will get.But this is something I'll have to do if I want to enjoy the film... _________________ Hey,Jace,I'm an only child!Would you be my brother?
