| Before I give my feelings on these books here are the synopsis for the first two books that have come out so far.
Vampire Academy:| Quote: | St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school—it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's—the very place where they're most in danger. . . . Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever. |
Frostbite:| Quote: | Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose... It's winter break at St. Vladimir's, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy's crawling with Guardians--including Rose's hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn't bad enough, Rose's tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason's got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks....This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory. But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price... |
So I really like this series, I mean it has action, adventure, plus all those twisted romances that make the story interesting. Honestly I wasn't really impressed with the first book - but I think that was because the author spent so much time trying to get you to know the characters and not much on the actual events happening during the time frame.
But in usual fashion the end sucked me in and made me want to read the second book. And I must say the second book was far better than the first, less flashbacks and more of the current plot lines. Plus by the end of the second book I was emotionally tied to so many of the characters that it was crazy, where as in the first book I would have only been upset if anything had happened to either of the main characters.
Has anyone else read these? P.S. There's going to be a third book in the series that will come out this Fall - another bonus, no year long waits between book releases *nods*

| Kaylee ~ I was just looking at that series when I was at the bookstore picking up some summer book reading and now that you've posted your opinion I might go check it out again. |

I also don't think its oozing sex...it was just that one time in frostbite and one in shadowkiss but its not like the go into the gory details of it...and its not all the same person either but eh.. i liked em :] |

| *rushes in* Oh my. I looooooovvveeeeee VA. It's so good. Is it not? Dimitri. And yes, mundy.. Shadow Kiss had me crying also. For a whole week in fact. I think around July I shall re-read the series again and start crying again. I can't wait till Blood Promise. He can't. Rose and Dimitri have to be. The wait is almost more nerve wracking than the COG wait. But yeah I'm really excited. For the fourth and even the fifth. LOL Was it just me or was the first book the most.. err. The one with the most sex details. I mean the third.. you know what I'm going on about. The first was more descriptive than the third. Mourning till August. |

| Oh, do I know any other good books?? Stupid question lol. SWEEP is a good series of 14 books, The Darren Shan Saga is really good also lol. (lots of books in the Darren Shan saga. Like 12 I think. Not sure) Book of lies is cool, Pale as the Dead, most Gina Champion Mysteries.... I have read a lot of books... Proves I have too much time on my hands. But when I don't have time, I make time. |

| Yeah lol. I finished reading the third one, as it was the only one I could get my hands on, today, after reading it for like a couple of hours lol. Now I'm reading Dirt Magic by Carol Hughes. I need to go back to the library and find the first 2 and the 4,5 and 6th as I think that is all they will let me get out |

| Ive just started shadow kiss and man its addictive! i like it how its all about vampires... like humans play a really tiny tiny tiny role in it! and i heart adrian and christian! Dimitri is bit too mysterious for my liking And everyone gets to go crazy in the books, first it was lissa and now rose and adrian too - but it makes sense. I love it soo much |
