Do you not listen to the podcast? Is it not obvious by how much we talk about and compare these books to Twilight that we, well at least I am OBSESSED Laughing

Because well I am - I have just been trying not to talk about it so much as I've been waiting almost a year now for Breaking Dawn to come out. So the only way I've been able to keep my sanity is to focus as much of my attention on other things.

Like Katy for instance thinks that I'm going to like internally combust or something because I'm stuck in the middle of so many unfinished series. And honestly that's how I found the Mortal Instruments, I was just looking for something to distract me for a little bit longer while I waited for Breaking Dawn. Little did I know that I'd end up finding this series to obsess over as well.

Also liked then before they were famous. I can't go as far to say that I read Twilight when it was alone, but I read them the year before Eclipse came out.

Yes, The Mortal Instruments was to take my mind of Breaking Dawn as well. But then it grew on me x10!
And, yes, Jacob Black SHOULD die in multiple holes.

See I personally think that Jacob deserves his own happiness, I don't think that happiness is with Bella, but he does deserve to be happy.

I mean you really can't compare him to Edward, since well Jacob really is 16 and just doing all of this stuff for the first time. Where as Edward has been alive and had almost a hundred years to figure all of this stuff out. So they are on two completely different playing fields, so they must be looked at that way too.

For instance, if you were in Jacobs shoes and you thought the person you loved was making a HUGE mistake you'd do just about anything in your power to try to stop them. That's just human nature, and well Jacob does love Bella in some way or another, weather we like that fact or not, it's just the way it is. So he's just gone on instinct and done what he felt he could to try to change her mind, which so far hasn't worked out for him, but you can't really blame him for trying.

And also Edward isn't perfect either, his possessive and controlling among many other flaws. He just seems perfect because he does a better job at hiding those flaws, because well he's had 107 years to figure out how to do so. I'm pretty sure any guy would be like Mr. Perfect after that long.

Plus everyone just needs to remember (this advice was from Megs) that we are seeing the story through Bella's eyes, and well to her Edward is pretty much perfect. I'm pretty sure when we finally get to read Midnight Sun we will have a different outlook on him and see more of his flaws and mistakes that Bella doesn't take notice of.

But I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't think Jacob's love for Bella is a good reason for anyone to wish death upon him. He's just a kid, and he's just doing what he thinks he needs to - plain in simple - yeah we might not like it, but do you always like everything that your friends do? My guess is no, so how can we expect to like everything that Jacob does? We can't...

I think Bella and Edward should end up together, but I also think that Jacob does deserve to be happy in his own right, and shouldn't die just because he made the mistake of falling in love with Bella.

Wow Clary.... I was so surprised to see somebody posted Twilight on book discussions. XD. Because like..... Twlight is so obvious that we all love it that I completly overlooked posting it on here. So major kudos to you! Very Happy

I think I got caught a bit in the middle. I became a fan in December. Which yes, is late book-wise but I was definitely aboard the ship in time for all the Breaking Dawn & Movie stuff to come out so I think I became a fan in good timing.

On the topic of Jacob, what you say is tru Kaylee. But see.... there are two different ways of looking at it. YOU are looking on it through the Edward is a Vampire! way. As in, Jacob was acting like he did because he thought Bella was making a big mistake, because he didn't want her dead or a vampire [because he thought that was all that was goign to come out of her being with Edward] and whay pick a nasty vampire when you could pick me, a warewolf. Which would make his actions perfectly fine. He loved Bella and didn't want her getting hurt. That is the feild of mythical stuff.

But in the feild of love, Edward and Jacob are equals. Yeah, Edward might be 107, but he is still in the body of a 17 year old. He can't get around that. He might be a bit wiser then the next 17 old guy, but he still acts on the same impulses. He still acts like a kid at times. So really, Jacob and Edward aren't that different. Now, what I mean of feilds of love is, Bella is in a relationship with Edward. Here comes along Jacob and tries to break them up. He says "pick me" when clearly Edward and Bella are still together. Now when, pray tell, is it ever acceptable for somebody to break a couple up who are clearly in love? Never. It's not like Bella is in an abusive relationships. It's clear that they each worship the ground the other walks on. Jacob has no right what so ever to split them up.

But honestly.... I don't get why people hate on the other. Like why do some Jacob fans hate on Edward? And why do some Edward fans hate on Jacob? The both of them are amazing guys and they each have their own faults.

Edward is such a gentleman! He treats Bella like the purest of gold. He is just perfect! He likes to drive fast cars Cool

and play baseball [lol] and he is cold and hard and he will always stand by Bella and he will always support her and everything. He looks over her every need and he loves her just enough -- he never gets "anooyingly affectionit". But he can't bend. What I mean is, either he doesn't want her to see Jacob at all not even talk about him don't ever say his name -- or sure go see him go make out with him go spend all your time with him I just want you to be happy I'll be here when you need me I don't care and I won't stop you. He doesn't have a middle ground. He always thinks he is right! And he is so stubborn! Like, it took him to leave, almost kill himself, and face the Volturri for him to finally see that Bella does, in fact, love him as much as he loves her. Aaaaand two words. Self. Hatered. >.< Okay, at first I was okay with it. Now it is getting annoying. Which actually goes back to him being superly duperly stuborn. He thinks he is the most vilest creature on Earth and no way he desreves Bella and no way he has a soul or deserves a chance at Heaven and blah blah. It is just getting tiresome. There is only enough patiens in a person to go "no you are great Edward" to someone a million times over. He is perfect with all the little things, he just has a few easily dealt with easily acceptable faults with long-term emotions.

Jacob is.... basically put... a bad boy. Razz

And every girl loves a bad boy. He rides a motercycle [oh my gosh] he is flamming hot [literlarly and figurativle XD] he is loud and big and a bundle of fun. He is wild and he is always happy. He loves Bella. He might not be good at great big love declarations but he loves her -- anybody can see it. He can be rude, a bit too loud. But he is adventurous, he likes to blaze in the hidden unknown. He likes danger. And he is more than happy to take Bella on the ride with him. Yeah motorcycling and cliff diving could be possibly dangerous, but it'll be fun and I'll be right beside you. He is warm. But unlike with Edward, Bella can be the older one here. There are some moments where Bella is the one in charge and is taking care of Jacob. Never once has that happend with Edward. But he is obnoxious at times. And he jumps in head first. Well.. that isn't necaserily a bad thing. Anyway. After tuning into a warewolf he became all angsty and he was all about anger and grrrr imma warewolf. ohhhhh! And that really bugged me. I liked him when he was all happy-go-lucky, he was cute. He follows his gut and instinct. He sin't perfect and doesn't always make the right desicions. [I am not saying that Edward is perfect and always does the right thing, I am just saying that Edward appears perfect and usually does the right thing] Wait.... ^^; that was a contradiction all on its own. Sorry, I'll explain. Edward usually does the right thing, but as we saw in New Moon, when he does make a mistake, it is usually a huge one. Where as Jake makes a lot of stupid ones, but hey, he's alright.

People shouldn't hate the other guy. And I don't think people should wish Jake an ill fate. No, he doesn't belong with Bella, and yes, I do dislike him for meddling with Bella and Edward, but do I hate him? Hell no. I don't like him as much as Edward, true, and I am a faithful member of Team Edward but Jake's alright. I wish he never loved Bella. He was amazing as a best friend. I really liked him. But then he had to go and fall in love. lol. XD. I know, not his fault. But still.

As for a happy ending.... I have a huge Breaking Dawn theory and in it is definitely a very good happy ending for all three of them. :]

Here's my issue with Jacob:

Yes, he does love Bella, and I can forgive him for that. He can't help those feelings. But the way he handles them I don't like as much. I know he's just a kid and is going through all this for the first time, but I'm willing to overlook that to make my argument make more sense...jk. It's just that....he played really dirty. And can you imagine Bella's future if she chose him? Maybe it's just me, but I don't think Jacob would be too happy to see Bella go off to school, way far away from La Push, where Edward or some other nice guy could get to her. But he would stay there to be with Pack. To make him happy, Bella would stay because that's the kind of person she is. She probably wouldn't realize for some time that the life is killing her. And what happens
if Jake were to imprint on another girl - or guy. XD By that time, they may already have a few kids...and Bella will be all alone because Jacob has found his mate.
The argument that my aunt, Meggle, and myself use alot is that Jacob is Charlie. Just think about it. Charlie kept Renee tied down to be Mr. Protector of the Small Town, and she ended up leaving. Jake has to stay with his pack to make sure there isn't any more threats. But Bella isn't Renee. She would stay because it would make Jacob happy.

So I don't necessarily hate Jacob. I liked New Moon Jake the first time I read it because he was so nice, but now that I know what happens in Eclipse I can't focus on his niceness. It's kind of like the Simon Situation. If Simon had died, there would've been less complications, but Clary would've been so sad and distraught that things would've been all screwy. Bella would be the same. On the surface it would seem like Jacob dying would be good because then he wouldn't be in the way, but it would mess Bella up so bad...

I'm not too fond of Bella, myself. Sometimes I like her, sometimes I don't.

Okay so here is my perspective again - I don't look at it as Vampire or Werewolf, but I do look at the fact that Edward has had 107 years to watch people in relationships (and read their minds and emotions to boot) and see what not to do and what to do. And I mean HELLO - am I one of the only frickin people who found it absolutely CREEPY that he was watching her while she slept with out her knowledge of the fact - I mean STALKER?!?!?!?! If that had been anyone else INCLUDING Jacob everyone would have been all like OMG WTF EW that's creepy - but because it's Edward it's okay????

I would also like to point out from the start that I am an official member of Team Switzerland - just thought I'd put that out there *nods*

And if you go back and read and pay attention Edward made just as many mistakes and screwed up just as many times a Jacob, but because you have this idea in your head that he's some perfect being you refuse to see that - trust me I did it for a really long time. For instance HE left her - HE basically pushed her into Jacobs arms and it's his OWN fault that she ended up loving Jacob in the manner that she did. Another thing - he forces her to do things she doesn't want to do (like college for example) and you can say 'oh that's because he cares about her' but if you really look at the situations that the EXACT same reason why Jacob does the things he does.

I guess all I'm trying to say is that everyone should just keep in mind that everything we see is through Bella's eyes and from her perspective, so of course Edward is going to seem perfect, to her, and because she doesn't want to love Jacob (even tho she clearly does) she sees and tries to pin point all of his flaws and all of the bad things he did/does.

Final point - look at things from another perspective and try to think of things from Jacobs perspective and maybe you'll actually have some sympathy for the kid, I mean all he's really doing is trying everything in his power to win over the woman he loves - what's more romantic than that?

P.S. As far as tricks and other stuff - remember the scene in the tent when Edward purposefully tricks Bella into saying stuff knowing Jacob is outside the tent to hurt him? He also tricked Bella, just like Jacob did, so what's so different? Nothing - they both screw up and neither one of them is any better than the other.

But on a love scale - yes I think Bella should end up with Edward - but like I said before, Jacob also deserves to find his own happiness.
