| Of course I'm a HUGE HP fan - as far as how many times I've read the books - well that all depends on which book your talking about. Some of them I've read more than others.
My two favorites are Goblet of Fire and Half Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows comes in close, and I think I've read that one the most out of any of them. And every time I do I get more and more irritated about how she ended the series *nods* but it doesn't deflect my love of the books tho. |

| It was just too many years to hate it all for a couple of pages, you know what I mean? there's a whole shelf on my bookshelf just dedicated to housing that series. _________________ Carpe Vitam.

| Yeah no I totally know what you mean - I still love the series to death - I just don't think I will ever trust JK to not kill me again like she did with Deathly Hallows - I mean she killed off some of my favorite characters and didn't even describe how they died or anything, but yet she spent chapter after chapter in the woods but couldn't take the time to explain the deaths *shakes head*
Plus I just would have much rather seen more of their reactions after the war and how Harry dealt with everyone pretty much dying so he could full fill his destiny. Rather than it just skipping 19 years to when everyone is happy and everything is good. I mean they won - I don't think I needed more of a happy ending than that - I guess I just wanted more in the explanation department.
But I still do love the series, and I felt like she did an AMAZING job with Snapes death. I mean she made you go from hating the man more that life it self to feeling almost sorry for him and crying because of his death. Now that's some magic right there - but I just can't get past the others deaths that had no explanation given. I mean LUPIN He was (in my opinion) the best maurader, and for him to just be killed off with no explanation and not even more than a paragraph dealing with him dying, I guess it just feels like its a waste of his character and a slap in the face for all of us who loved him.
All in all it's a great series that I will probably read to my kids as they are growing up - and yes I also have an entire section devoted to my HP stuff - I mean my entire room is pretty much HP stuff - yes I am a dork

| I've read these awesome books a few times over, and yes, the epilogue was like "....orly?" But I think Cassandra Clare said it best in a review or something in that it sums it all up. It wraps everything together and you know for sure there will be no more. Harry and Ginny had bebbies, Harry dealt with his PSTD which accounts for that poor kid's name (Albus Serverus?) and tralalalala JK is DONE with that I do feel like she decided to go mental and run through her characters with a chainsaw by way of deciding who'd live and who'd die. I mean come on... Hedwig? :< She was just chillin, yo. And yes, a little more time spent in the battle would've been alright. I get it if their death's really were unimportant... but what if they were? :< Even just to mention, Harry didn't even ask. He's too cool for school y'all. That scene with the stone near the end gets me every time. It is a very powerfully written scene. IF anyone's read the Eragon series, or at least that book though? I'm reading that now, and there's a whole lot of chapters dedicated to a whole lot of nothing, which is what Harry an Hermione's trek felt like a little before they got to Godric's Hollow. Stuff happened sure, but it did feel like "Oh, they went three feet today" and it's like "....mmmmkay" Book three is my fave, I think. Although book Five is awesome. I've got a lot of HP swag, because I'm amazing and shop at Hot Topic BD |

| I think that Chamber of Secrets was my favorite but don't count on that remaining that way because it changes from week to week. _________________ Carpe Vitam.

| My definite favourite was the sixth. How do I know this? Seconds from finishing it, I turned it over and started it again. XD. Though the fifth one comes in close [it was my first favourite before the sixth came out] and the seventh is a definite close. I loved the fifth one because Sirius died, and Sirius was my total favourite character. I cried for hours watching him go, it was one of my darkest hours in a long time. I loved the sixth one because of the development of Malfoy. He went from stupid pathetic bully, to a real guy with a real family. And it was a change that blew my mind away. And like you said Kaylee, the seventh for the development of Severus. Wow. Just wow. I cried when Harry was looking at Snapes memories and I cried hard. And also the scene where Harry faces Voldemort with his mom and dad and Serius behind him. That was phenominal. That was just beautiful. But you are right Alex. XD. Oh wow..... That is the very reason I can't re-read Eragon. Which is a problem because the third book comes out September 20th and I completly forgot what happens in Eldest. lol. Anyway, but yeah. It just kept going on and on and on...... >.< Right up until Godrics Hollow it was mighty dragging. The second was my least favourite. I was like 12 when I read the second one and it scared the living shit out of me. As a kid I was terrified of the dark and so you can imagine what it is like for me to picture a hissing voice saying "kill" and "blood" in the middle of the night. And I totally hated all the bad vibes towards Harry in the second one. Which is also why I didn't really like the fourth one all that much either.

<3 That's the perfect description of the fandom, I think -- It just really brought people together and made us all want to know what happened next. My favorite was the third, then it was the 5th when it came out. I think right now it's probably a tie between Chamber of Secrets and Deathly Hallows. Chamber of Secrets scared the shit out of me too, Alaska! I read it in like 2nd grade and I remember going to bed and thinking of a giant snake slithering through my walls whenever the heat came on. XD I remember seeing someone's icon on Livejournal and it was like "DAMMIT. 7 books and Dobby makes me cry? WTF." I cried at Dobby too. And the entire book was amazing, in my opinion. If I remember correctly, the epilogue was supposed to be longer, a bit different and much more descriptive of everyone's children and how life was after the war. JKR shortened it because she said it seemed like a bit too much to take in, but she has bits and pieces of it on her website. You can also tell that she had that at least parts of that ending planned for a looong time because the writing is more like CoS than Deathly Hallows style. And I'm probably the only one on the planet who didn't mind Albus Severus. |
